Retrofit Magnifying Glass

Project Brief

The Adelphi Apollo II is an existing product that provides downwards lighting and matt non-glare black and white back drops which comply with the regulated particle contamination inspection of transparent liquids packaged in transparent containers.

As regulations changed, the need for magnified inspection increased, so users could locate smaller particles within liquids.

I was challenged to design a magnifying glass that could retrofit to onto the existing Apollo II unit without modifying it.

End Design - Renders

In the final design, the retrofit slips over two elbows on the side of the unit to prevent movement. Two hardened alluminium bars lock everything together.
